EIT Manufacturing: Call for Proposals 2025

EIT Manufacturing invites submissions to the Call for Proposals 2025.

Focus on Innovation

Topic 1: Innovative Solution for Industrial Challenges

This topic aims to tackle critical industrial challenges identified across five thematic areas: Industrial Metaverse, Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, Net Zero Industry, and AI-Data.

Each proposal must focus on one of the listed challenges that span across the five thematic areas:

  • Integration of Complex Systems
  • Energy Cost Management
  • Implementing Circularity in Manufacturing
  • Data-Driven Product Development
  • Decision-Making Support for Complex Machinery and Value Chain

Topic 2: Transition towards a resilient and human-centered manufacturing

This topic calls for projects that align with EIT Manufacturing’s Strategic Objectives on enhancing manufacturing system flexibility and supply chain resilience and reinforcing the attractiveness of the manufacturing work environment through technologies and digitalisation, addressing the critical need for a transition in the manufacturing sector.

Under this topic, applicants are invited to focus on one of the following two sub-areas:

  • Resilience and Resource Availability
  • Human-Centric Manufacturing Innovations

Focus on Education

Topic 1: Sustainable Manufacturing for the Future

The proposals under this topic are expected to cover skills and competencies in the following areas:

  • Renewable Energy Integration: Proposals should focus on equipping the manufacturing workforce with skills tailored towards integrating renewable energy sources into manufacturing operations, encompassing solar, wind, and bioenergy solutions.
  • Circular Economy Implementation: Proposals should focus on competencies for designing and managing production processes for resource efficiency, waste reduction and circular flow of materials.
  • Net-Zero Strategies: Proposals should focus on skills and competencies that are needed for developing net-zero strategies in manufacturing, focusing on carbon footprint reduction and sustainable resource use (proficiency in optimisation techniques, digitalisation, and data analytics monitoring).

Topic 2: Digital Innovation in Manufacturing

The proposals under this topic are expected to cover skills and competencies in the following areas:

  • Industrial Metaverse Implementation: Proposals should focus on strengthening the manufacturing workforce skills and competencies linked to the adoption of immersive solutions, such as XR technologies and digital twins (developing proficiency in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and digital twins to improve safety, efficiency, and collaboration within manufacturing operations).
  • AI and Data Analytics in Manufacturing: Proposals should focus on equipping the manufacturing workforce with skills and competencies in Machine Learning (ML) and Reinforcement Learning (RL), emphasising principles, algorithms, and applications across various domains.

Focus on Master & Doctoral School I&E Programme

In the framework of the Call for Proposals 2025, EIT Manufacturing invites submissions for the Master & Doctoral School I&E Programme, adhering to the outlined criteria below:

EIT Manufacturing Master School – Summer School 2025

The proposals under this topic are expected to cover the following:

  • Green and digitalisation aspects of manufacturing.
  • Innovative added value modules for developing I&E and sustainability competences.

EIT Manufacturing Doctoral School – Innovation Programme 2025

The proposals under this topic are expected to cover the following:

  • Focus on innovation in manufacturing, with emphasis on EITM flagships.
  • Integration of entrepreneurship activities with an emphasis on IPR, Ethics, and start-up creation.

Focus on Regional Innovation Scheme

Topic 1: RIS Innovation

  • Advanced materials and manufacturing processes at EIT RIS : this subtopic calls for projects aiming to support innovative solutions relevant to the Call Thematic 'Advanced materials at EIT RIS'. Advanced materials are a key enabler technology for the twin green and digital transition and strategic point towards industrial competitiveness and leadership.
  • Artificial Intelligence at EIT RIS: the subtopic calls for projects aiming to support innovative solutions relevant to the Call Thematic 'AI and digital twins for manufacturing systems'. As AI technologies continue to advance, manufacturers can expect further improvements in productivity, quality, and competitiveness.
  • Inclusiveness at EIT RIS: the subtopic calls for projects aiming to support innovative solutions relevant to the Call Thematic 'Inclusiveness at EIT RIS', with special focus – although not restricted – on innovation projects which boost inclusiveness in the manufacturing industry. By prioritising inclusivity and embracing diversity as a strength, manufacturing companies can create a more innovative, resilient, and competitive workforce that reflects the diverse perspectives and talents of the global community.

Topic 2: Up-skilling and re-skilling manufacturing workforce in EIT RIS countries

The proposals under this topic call for proposals to up-skill and re-skill the workforce and cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the manufacturing sector in EIT RIS countries.
